Newsgroup AccountsNewsgroups are discussion groups based on a common area of interest (ie, classic cars, folk music, boating, etc). There are over 100,000 newsgroups which cover almost every subject imaginable and, therefore, appeal to a wide variety of people. In fact, Outlook Express, Mozilla and Netscape all include newsgroup clients, which act as a user interface when access content on newsgroups. There are several reasons why newsgroup access is beneficial. Content Variety: As introduced earlier, there are over 100,000 topic-specific newsgroups, so there's something for everyone. You can subscribe to any group that you want and share text discussions on that topic as well as share binary files like pics, vids, audio files and software. Content Volume: Newsgroup content is stored on a network of hundreds of server farms worldwide. There are literally millions of files available for download via newsgroups that are accessed directly from these servers. Additionally, several terabytes of new data is posted every day. Access Speed: When you access newsgroups, you access the newsgroup servers directly. This effectively allows you to saturate every bit of bandwidth that your ISP offers. Security: Most newsgroup providers offer 256-bit SSL encrypted connections. This means no packet sniffing by any 3rd party. Outlook express, mozilla and netscape all include newsgroup clients.
