Question: Internet content filters programs and such... 10 points for most helpfull answer.?

I am 15 and am going to be getting a laptop real here soon. My dad is fine with it(of course), but his only worry is the internet. so what i am looking for is: anything free! Severl differnet programms that block certain content. :) a Program that sends an email(to my mom) with a list of all the sites i have visited. A program that limits how much time i can spend on the internet. Any suggestens? My Operating system is XP.

The only possible thing I can think of is a "re-router " for Xp from untangle.com It is based on a Linux-based Firewall they give out for free. In fact, if you had a separate PC, and were willing to learn about firewalls, a Linux-based router would be the way to go. However, you need a spare PC with 2 network cards. Content filtering is more tricky, and I've only seen the Linux firewalls do that (at zero price that is). Linux firewalls can also become a web proxy where you can set the hours and bandwidth usage (everything your parents would want, but then they have to trust you to set it up lol) If interested, check out distrowatch.com, and search for firewalls (near the top - "search ")
