Why do you have to buy domain names and why do you buy them off websites? Confused about domain names help:)?
Well I found out that you have to buy domain names for websites off different websites. But I'm confused as to why a website gets to charge you.. Are they in charge of the internet or something? Please help clear up all my confusion. Thanks Yeah but what I don't understand is that the internet is just like a massive network, nobody owns it right.. So then if noone owns it why do I have to buy a website name off someone? See where my confusion is now? haha thanks for the help though

Is there a service that will buy domain names that are approaching expiration?
there is a domain name that is going to run out in the near future and I know that there are a few other people who have their eye on the same domain name... I was wondering if there is a service out there that will keep an eye on that domain name and will aggressively go after the purchase of it once it expires under it's current owner.I happen to know that the current owner will not be renewing it because they are unfortunately no longer on this planet if you know what I mean. the site essentially has gone un updated and could benefit from being revived... I should also mention... the name of the site is not trademarked. the url is not a trademark either.

I want to create a website for myself. Where is a good place to buy domain names?
Someone told me godaddy.com and buy through them. If I do, when I buy my own website, can I format website to my kinda standards and not have any godaddy advertisements on it? I don't want to have any advertisements on it.Also, if I decide that i don't want it, can I cancel and stop my website, or buy it from someone else instead of godaddy.com say if I get annoyed with all the ads from godaddy.com Please help I have never created a website before and am new to this. Thanks in advance

Which site is most trusted for buying domain name?
I wont to buy a domain name but cant find a site on which I can trust....

Bought domain name and hosting. Now, where/how do I start my forum? How do I edit my site?
I bought my domain name at GoDaddy.com, and went elsewhere webhostingpad when I saw the atrocious prices.I am a COMPLETE noob at this. I have never written PHP I'm going to learn while I do this , and I didn't know anything about sites until I decided to buy one. So, I'm at a complete loss as to how to actually edit my site... All I'm realy going to do is put a portal and Vbulletin on there, but I can't find any tutorials that speak down to people so much to cover such a simple step, lol. So... How do I edit my website? Where do I go?

What is the best website to buy Domain Names from?
I am starting up a new business and want to buy the .co.uk and .com addresses for my business, and there seems to be loads of domain websites so I'm a bit confused

How can I buy Domain Name? Most websites 'rent' or 'lease' out domain names for 1-5 years.?
So yeah, I want to buy it. So its MINE and I don't have to give it back to the company after my rent runs out. Most websites like sell the rents from 2 10 dollars yr. but I want to buy the website name. Also, which is the cheapest and best web hosting service? I don't know much about web hosting, but I expect minimal traffic, likewise, minimal bandwidth maybe 10GB or less, but most services sell like 300 gb , and all the other good stuff like support etc? Thanks.another question now since I can't buy the domain, if i want to extend the renewal for more than 5 years after 5 years are up will I have to pay more money like a premium to get the website working again?
