Where do domain registrars get domain names from?
When you get a domain name you purchase from a domain registrar ie godaddy but how where do they get the domains?
Why is there such a big difference in price between domain registrars?
register.com screwed up my DNS and I'm waiting for the correct settings to filter through the internet now.This screw up made me look at alternate registrars, and I see that the costs vary dramatically example register.com charges $35 per year for a .com but godaddy.com charges $7. This is for basic domain registration, not hosting, email, or dns. I don't see any reason to stay with register.com, but I want to make sure that there isn't some risk that I'm not aware of with a cheap registrar like godaddy.

I need some .com and international domains for my small company, and I'm amazed at the price differences among different registrars, for a service which is essentially the same. However, after browsing the Internet, I've read truly horror stories about europeregistry.com fake whois entries, hidden expenses, lack of support, etc. , but godaddy.com seems to have a good reputation. On the other side, Europe Registry convers almost every TLD I need, and godaddy does not. Any alternatives?

What im asking is where can I purchase a domain name, which i can sell almost immediately and transfer it to the new owner straight away, for example godaddy.com wont allow a transfers for 60 days after purchasing, which can be a pain if you want to sell immediately.p.s.
