Are newsgroups illegal?
i download from usenet newsgroups from a service that I pay $15 a month for. I always thought it was legal since i'm paying for it and not getting content for free. so what's the deal?

Hi, what are or is the best newsgroups for downloads of various media contents. i hear that newsgroup communities and users all say that they are far superior to torrents with better speeds and more content ect. but what are the best newsgroups out there and how do they work. if they are private communities i would be willing to leave a donation to have access to this content?

How do newsgroups and Usenet access affect your bandwith?
I've noticed that upon switching to newsgroups as my primary downloading service my network is much less lethargic, exponentially less than when I used bittorrent to download files. I also achieve much faster and consistent download speeds whereas with bittorrent I could download one file for weeks and have incredibly low net surfing speeds on other computers on the network. Does usenet use some other type of connection that does not affect my bandwith useage, or is it just the fact that with newsgroups I am only connecting to one server instead of many peers, freeing up much of the bandwith that was once used to connect to peers.

Does anyone know where you can access newsgroups for free like comp.sys.atari.8bit or rec.games.video.classic?Comcast is ending their free newsgroup service in a few more days and you will have to subscribe to it directly through Giganews for a fee.It's tough paying for something you've been getting for free for years...thanks Comcast
GrabIt & NewsGroups Help?
Hi, I'm new to the world of downloading newsgroups and having a bit of trouble. Just for your information my ISP is Virgin Media. I think I have set GrabIt up correctly and have been using Newzleech.com to search for nbz files. Which I think are all binary on that site? Could be wrong.Anyway when I try to download certain files all I get is " article not found" . Is this something to do with the age of the files and my ISP not retaining them for more than however many days? If this is the case is there anything I can do about it? Or if it is not the case where am I going wrong?Apologies if I am being stupid, like I mentioned earlier I am a complete newb to newsgroups.Any help on this would be much appreciated and any newsgroups help in general lol.Thanks
Need newsgroup reader program for Vista- R there any good ones that R free ?
I have Vista Home Premium.I want to be able to view and post to newsgroups. I hear you need a program for this but I don't know of any besides Outlook Express the email program has this capability . Vista doesn't come with Outlook express since it's for Windows XP so I have nothing to use.I need a free one that's good for newsgroups. Why does my newsgroup's server think I'm reporting spam?
I'm subscribed to a mailing list, php.install under news.php.net. I use Mozilla Thunderbird to view the latest postings and respond to a posting. Every time I do that, I get an e mail from the server's abuse department. The message always opens with " This is an automated reply to your message to Email Abuse. Your message has been delivered to our email abuse department. This department handles complaints from users that are receiving unwanted email. We try our best to investigate all reports of abuse. If we determine that the email you reported was in fact sent from an email address at one of our domains, or by way of computers operated by us, we will take the appropriate action." How do you access Newsgroups?
I remember a long time ago being able to access newsgroups on different subjects and people would post designs, information and pictures to different newsgroups. I completely forget where to go to find newsgroups and how to access them. Any help out there?
